Attuning

When I went mushroom picking last autumn, my mind was overwhelmed with the sudden silence and presence in a forest that I struggled to calm down. To see, spot and pick with calmness and peace. I was panicky, restless and extremely overwhelmed, needing orientation.

But taking a moment to meditate telling yourself it's alright to calm down and take it all in one at a time helps attune. When I attune, I get the gifts of nature. When I attune, it seems as though nature is with me, supporting me in my process, giving me wholeheartedly. It's either me attuning to her rhythm or she receiving me into hers.

Just as now with berries... I'm here for berries. If I get overwhelmed and excited to look for mushrooms, I lose sight of berries. This is calming me down, while I receive medicine from the entire natural system, for both body and mind.

Sometimes I feel I should not use my phone, like when I type this note down, just to just be in the moment, not capturing a moment that may look beautiful. But, it doesn’t seem like nature discriminates between a phone user and non-user. It all come down to attuning on the part of human.
